What is osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis means ‘porous bones’. It is a condition in which the bones of the body, for example the hips, spine or arms become thin, brittle and liable to fracture.
Osteoporosis is known as the ‘silent epidemic’ as sufferers are often unaware of its’ presence until they break, or fracture bone.

Osteoporosis is preventable!
Taking measures to prevent the condition becoming established is far more successful than treatment. Changes in diet and the right kind of exercise will help, but identifying if you are at risk is vital.
How can I have my bone density checked?
This service is not readily available on the NHS, and the government has currently ‘ruled out’ mass screenings for bone density. We offer a screening service, which uses Ultrasound to identify immediately if you are at risk.
Ultrasound is a scanning technique, which has been used for many years in hospitals; most pregnant women have the first glimpse of their baby by ultrasound. It is a safe method of measuring internal body structure, without using potentially harmful X-rays.
