Covid-19 As a precaution to other patients and Richards’ Centre staff
In view of the current lockdown and the continuing spread of Coronavirus, Dee, Jeff together with all the therapists and staff took the decision to close the clinic.
The welfare of patients and staff are paramount to us and although we introduced even more stringent hygiene measures, 15minute cleaning between patients, 2 waiting rooms, clinell wipes, masks etc, we felt that, after the government announcement on Monday and with the continuing spread in West Sussex, we could not safely continue. Some of our staff are working with the NHS
Video appointments for Physios, Osteopaths and Chiropractors have had a high success and satisfaction rate in countries such as the USA and Australia for a several years. Whilst they are a completely new idea in the UK, we have been working hard for some weeks to achieve a high standard for their introduction by our Osteopaths. We are pleased to announce that Saturday 28th March sees the launch of our new Online Video Appointments.
We’d like to take some of the burden off an overstretched NHS by giving reassurance and help to people in pain, whilst remaining safe. Don’t suffer in silence, talk your pain through with our professional osteopaths, they’re fully trained in examination and diagnosis!
These will be a one to one appointment with one of our Osteopaths, you choose who you see at the time of booking. You don’t have to have a computer for the appointment, a tab or mobile phone can be used. The Osteopath will, as usual, take a full case history. Look at and discuss the areas which are causing pain. Talk through what could be affecting you and examine by looking at your range of motion and movement patterns. Treatment, be it self massage, stretch or excercises will be offered, and assessed during the consultation. They will offer advice on things such as movements you should avoid, when to apply heat/ice and, where appropriate, send you an individualised exercise programme. If they have concerns that your problem might need further diagnosis, this will be discussed, to find the best way forward.
Unfortunately, due to the practical nature of Chiropody appointments, there is no video alternative. The good news is that you can still book appointments for 3 weeks hence, though the reality is that the lockdown may continue for some time.
We have been running the clinic for over 35 years and it has always been at the heart of the Crawley community. This is an unprecedented situation, which the community, the country and the world are dealing with.
We want to thank each and every one of you for your continuing messages of support, which I must admit have brought more than a few tears. As Mr Schwarzeneger says “we will be back”
